Is It Wrong To See Things So Black And White?

It seems to me that there is a growing trend that the more *liberal* you are in your interpretations of God's commandments & laws, the more sophisticated and relevant you appear.
It's often seen as a 'new thing' and as if to say the way people have believed things all these thousands of years about the Bible is wrong.

I think perhaps as we start growing in our faith and maturing we are way more reluctant to see things simplistically as they are. We become more drawn to the obscure and search eagerly for the weird, supposedly "hidden" truths inside Scripture and are quick to brush off the obvious.

People often gravitate more towards this weird pseudo-grey area that basically negates "definite answers". But....I think one part of our Christian walk IS being able to boldly declare what we believe. N'est-ce pas? I can't help but think that God's character doesn't change with time. That the things he deems wrong and sinful are always going to be wrong and sinful.

Yes, there should always be grace, but it is not at the expense of bending God's commandments. I think we should be more cautious as to how we approach these topics.

Why play Devil's advocate just for the sake of an interesting conversation?
